Created in the spring and summer of 2021, these collages were created by making many tiny marks with acrylic on paper, cutting them out, and rearranging them carefully into compositions that achieve a sense of playfulness and balance. They explore mark-making, moving between fluid wiggles, arcs, circles, polka dots, and dry-brushing. The process of cutting out these tiny marks and rearranging them was meditative and felt akin to solving a puzzle. It was the perfect material exercise while caring for a young infant: bite-sized, accessible, and playful.
